Scope and Responsibilities:
- Develop new site functionality according to spec
- Work collaboratively with product and design team to ensure we create an exciting product
- Create well-architected, maintainable code
- Take ownership of your core functional area
- Design database tables to support the front end
- Optimize poorly performing parts of the application
- Fix bugs and support QA activities
Requirements:
- BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent degree
- 2+ years of experience in developing database driven web applications preferred
- Strong software engineering skills; know when to hack and when to refactor
- Ability to quickly implement a functional spec to deployable code
- Experience with PHP, MySQL, CSS, AJAX
- Working knowledge of Linux, development tools (vim/emacs, grep, sed, etc.)
- Proven ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing requirements
Plusses:
- Knowledge of various web services/APIs
- Experience building scalable web applications
- Experience with Linux system administration

Scope and Responsibilities:
- Establish infrastructure/procedures that minimizes scalability risks
- Work with the engineering team to ensure each developer does their part for performance
- Work with the product team to understand end user needs and tradeoffs
- Identify problematic queries and implement creative solutions that preserve functionality
- Profile relevant PHP code, identify and fix performance issues
- Contribute to architecture, design and code reviews
- Quantify trade-offs in caching / bandwidth / database accesses
Requirements:
- BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent degree
- 3+ years building scalable database driven web applications
- Detailed understand of relational databases and experience with query optimization.
- Experience with PHP
- Proven ability to learn quickly
- Working knowledge of Linux, development tools (vim/emacs, grep, sed, etc.)
Plusses:
- Strength in developing and analyzing algorithms
- MySQL Ninja skills
- Ability to look at performance holistically, not just at the query level
